What’s the good news?

I’ll tell ya.

God wants you. He wants to spend forever with you. He created you on purpose because the universe wouldn’t have been the same without you. (WHAAAAT? YES.) He has beautiful things he wants you to do with your life and in your heart, and he wants to give you joy and peace and life itself! Sounds good so far? Great. Keep reading.

The thing is that you’re separated from him by your sin. You’re messy and broken and hung up on being in charge of your life. And you can’t have that friendship with God on your own. That’s the hard part. But it’s not the end of the story.

God loved you so much that he did everything he possibly could to make sure you could spend eternity with him, in his presence, experiencing true life and purpose! He was and is so jealous for you that he did the hardest thing in the world. He let His only cherished and beloved Son die a gruesome and painful death to take away the sins of everyone in the universe, past, present and future.

WAIT FOR IT. Jesus didn’t stay dead, he rose from the dead and is reunited with his father. Now he’s preparing a beautiful place where you can spend eternity WITH him! And God loves us so much that he sent us his Spirit to HANG OUT INSIDE OF US AND CHANGE US FROM THE INSIDE while we wait for his return.

If you believe that God did what he did, and you believe Jesus saved you, you are NEW. He sends his Spirit to live inside of you, and the Spirit works inside your own heart to desire what God desires and to be who God is calling you to be! (DOUBLE WHAAAAAT!)

The Good News of the Gospel is that God loves us on purpose, and sacrificed his son so that we could know him forever, and that while we’re on earth, we’re not abandoned, we’re being changed from the inside out by God himself!
